So far detection of electromagnetic signals before larger earthquakes (>M5) is the best way for predicting them. The American Geophysical Union put out a textbook on it last year and even a few countries have come together to collaborate on advancing this technique. We are seeing this science at its infancy. I can only imagine what this field will become in 100 years! Unimaginable possibilities...
